Have you ever had one of those nights that a cold comes stampeding in and slaps you over the head so hard you have no idea what hit you? Well, that’s what I woke up to. Let me correct myself; woke up 100 times throughout the night to. Thoughts of the end enter your mind as your head pounds and you can’t breath. On top of being 7.5 months pregnant I was pretty sure life was all over. But you wake up in the morning and stand vertical for a little and things ease up a bit and you realize, “ok, it’s not over… I was a tad dramatic, but I could really go without this cold right now.”
On the flip side, it’s Mother’s Day! I was secretly hoping my two-year old, Presley, would sleep the day away because I couldn’t even bear the thought of picking her up and going through the motions of getting her dressed and entertained. I thought, “Well, that’s not very motherly!”
But it’s ok. You can’t be ‘on’ 365 days a year but you do the best you can every single day. In my humble opinion, that’s what makes moms [and dad’s] worth celebrating. But it’s not about the Dad’s today. So let’s leave the shout out to the moms for now.
I wish my own mom a Happy Mother’s Day. I am so thankful for her continuous support and constant help no matter how old I get. As we speak she is scraping wallpaper in our new home (yes, closed last Thursday, yay!) so that the painter can come in and prime and paint the walls with no extra cost. Now seriously, only a mom could care that much to do that awful work for their kid! I actually think that she may be more nervous than I am about getting into the house before the twins are born. Only a mom, right?
I also wish all of you other moms out there a Happy Mother’s day. You ladies that have devoted yourself to your families and do awesome things every single day! You are all amazing women.
I feel like I am writing in a fog so I am going to wrap it up for today. I need to save every last ounce of brain power for spending a special Mother’s Day with my one baby because next year it will be with three!
Water, decaf coffee (I pretend its providing caffeine), and Tylenol are going to be momma’s little helpers today. Now I just need to get Presley ready… yup, starting at 11:30a. Better late than never…
Enjoy all of your Momma’s Day celebration with your families today! xo
